First time pregnant and my doc already did one scan at 6 weeks. MIL keeps saying too many scans are not good for baby. Just wanted to know roughly how many are usually done in the full 9 months, pls share what your gynac told u.
Honestly the number depends on your case, but for a normal pregnancy expect around 3 to 4. I just blocked those dates in advance so work didnt clash. Ask doc upfront so you can plan leaves.
For both my pregnancies it was around 3 to 4 main scans, dating, NT, anomaly and growth one near end. Some docs add more if needed. Just follow what your gynac schedules, dont add extra on your own.
My doctor explained the usual ones, a dating scan early, then NT around 11 to 13 weeks, anomaly scan around 18 to 20 weeks, and a growth scan in third trimester. She said extra ones only if theres a reason. So roughly 3 to 4 standard, but it can vary person to person.
Theres a standard set most docs follow but its really individual. Some need more monitoring, some less. Best to ask your own gynac for your schedule rather than going by a fixed number.
We planned for about 4 scans and kept some budget aside since each one costs a bit. Ask your hospital for a rough list so it doesnt surprise you later. If doc says more are needed, of course you do them, baby first.
