My doctor has advised me to keep active during pregnancy, and walking is my preferred exercise. I'm curious about how many steps are generally considered safe or beneficial to walk daily. What's your routine like?
I felt so proud of myself when I did 6000 steps daily during my fifth month. But by the eighth month my feet would swell up so I had to reduce it. It's all about how your body feels day by day.
I totally understand how we get obsessed with all these numbers like 10k steps. But please be gentle with yourself. Even a simple 10 minute stroll in your garden is more than enough to keep you and baby happy.
Don't push yourself too hard to meet some high step count. I had a C-section and realized that listening to your body is most important. Start with a slow 15-20 min walk and stop if you feel tired or heavy.
Please be extremely careful and don't do anything strenuous. Since I had a miscarriage earlier, I was very scared to walk too much. Do check with your doctor first if you have any history of pain or spotting before starting daily walks.
Honestly I only walked so I could digest all the extra pani puri and sweets I was craving! Usually 4000 to 5000 steps was my limit, after that I just wanted to sit and eat more snacks.
