How many times can you do ultrasound during pregnancy?
Im 16 weeks and my gynac has already done 3 scans till now. My MIL keeps saying too many ultrasounds are not good for baby. Honestly i dont know how many are actually fine in the whole pregnancy, anyone here knows?
My gynac said in a normal pregnancy you typically have around 3 to 4 scans, dating, NT, anomaly and a growth scan. Ultrasound is safe so a few extra if needed is fine. The doctor decides based on how the pregnancy is going.
Scans add up cost wise so I only did the ones my doctor said were necessary, about four. No point doing extra ones. I did them at a cheaper diagnostic centre with the doctors ok.
Usually 3-4 in a normal pregnancy, more if there is any reason to monitor closely. Ultrasound has no radiation so it is safe. Just dont go getting random extra ones for gender or fun, follow the doctor.
