First pregnancy and im a little confused about how many scans are actually needed over the 9 months. My friend said she had like 5-6 but my gynac mentioned fewer. Just want to get a rough idea of how many sonographies are normal. What was it like for u?
The number of sonographies can vary a lot depending on your individual pregnancy and any specific concerns your doctor might have. It's not a fixed number for everyone. Please discuss this directly with your gynac, as they are the best person to tell you what's appropriate for your health and your baby's development. Don't hesitate to ask them all your doubts.
Oh, the sonography appointments were like little milestones for me, especially when I was struggling so much with morning sickness. Usually, it's around 3-4 scans if everything is normal. My doctor did an early one, then the anomaly scan, and then one towards the end. But some people need more, depends on the doctor and your health.
Usually, 3-4 sonographies are common throughout pregnancy. Ek pehle trimester mein, ek second trimester mein detail scan ke liye, aur phir last mein growth check ke liye. Agar koi issue nahi hai, toh itna hi hota hai. Lekin agar doctor ko kuch doubt hai toh zyada bhi ho sakte hain.
I'm in my second trimester, and so far I've had two. One for confirmation and dating, and then the anomaly scan. My doctor said there will be one more later for growth check. Is that normal for everyone? I hope I don't need too many more.
For a normal pregnancy, usually 3-4 sonographies are recommended. However, because I had gestational diabetes, my doctor wanted me to have a few extra scans, especially towards the end, to monitor the baby's growth and fluid levels very closely. So, it really depends on your health condition and what your doctor deems necessary.
Generally, three main scans are done: dating scan, anomaly scan around 18-20 weeks, and then a growth scan in the third trimester. Sometimes an early viability scan also happens. If everything is fine, then it's usually these. But if doc feels something, they might ask for more. Costs bhi dhyan mein rakhna padta hai.
Usually, it's a few times, maybe three or four if your pregnancy is going well. Your doctor will tell you when you need them. They are important for checking on the baby. Just listen to your doctor.
