I remember my parents would get so excited for every scan! My doctor did around 5 scans in total, and my mom always made sure I had a good breakfast before going.
Oh, those scan days were so tough for me because of heavy vomiting! Usually they do 4-5 scans, but if your nausea is bad, carry a lemon or some ginger candy to the clinic while waiting.
It's usually 4 scans throughout the 9 months. I used to book my appointments early in the morning so I could finish the scan and reach office on time without taking full day leave.

Minimum 3 to 4 scans are standard, like dating scan, anomaly, and growth scan. But if you have any severe pain or spotting, please don't wait for your scheduled scan, go see your doctor immediately.
In my case, I had about 6 ultrasounds because my doctor wanted to monitor the baby's weight closely toward the end. It completely depends on your own doctor's advice and your reports.
