im in my first pregnancy and already had two scans till now, im around 18 weeks. just wondering how many more are usually done in total. some say too many scans, some say its normal. confused.
Mine were about 4 routine ones but ended up doing 1-2 extra growth scans. I'd say keep some budget aside because each scan adds up, specially in private hospitals. Ask ur doc upfront roughly how many she plans so u can plan the cost.
For me it was way more than the usual 3-4 because of my high BP, they kept doing growth and doppler scans. So dont compare numbers with others, if ur doctor asks for extra scans its for the baby's safety, just go with it.
My app had all the standard scans marked, dating, NT, anomaly and growth, so basically 3-4. I loved the anomaly one at 20 weeks, u see so much detail. But every doctor's plan differs so go by what urs says.
In a normal pregnancy usually around 3-4 scans, like the early dating scan, the NT scan around 11-13 weeks, the anomaly scan around 20 weeks and a growth scan later. But it can be more if doc wants to monitor something. Best to follow ur own doctor's schedule.
