Im in my first pregnancy and my doctor has already done two scans till now in early months. My MIL feels too many ultrasounds are not good for baby. So honestly how many are normally needed through the whole pregnancy?
I needed a few extra scans because of complications, and my doctor explained each one was necessary for monitoring. So dont compare with others, your doctor decides based on your situation. Trust their plan.
Honestly the few standard scans are enough for a normal pregnancy, no need to do extra ones unnecessarily. Repeated scans without reason arent advised. Just go with the schedule your gynac gives you.
In a normal pregnancy my gynac did around 3 to 4 main scans, the dating, NT, anomaly and a growth scan. She said more are done only if something needs watching. So the number depends on your case.
