First time pregnant and a bit confused about how many scans are usually done through the whole pregnancy. My gynac did one at 7 weeks already. Just want to know what to expect ahead.
Usually around 3 main ones in a normal pregnancy, the early dating one, the anomaly scan around 20 weeks, and a growth one later. But it depends on your doctor and your case, some need more. Mine added a couple extra to check baby growth.
Just a heads up, the number can change so plan your budget thoda. We did 3-4 scans total. The anomaly scan around 5 months is the important detailed one, dont skip that. Ask your hospital for the full list upfront so no surprise bills.
Im in my 5th month and so far had 2, with the anomaly one coming up. My doc said usually 3 if everything is normal. Did others have the same? It made me feel better knowing its not too many.
My gynac explained it nicely, minimum 3 are standard, dating scan, the 18-20 week anomaly scan, and a third trimester growth scan. She said scans are safe and only done when needed, not for fun. If anything needs watching they do more.
