First time pregnant and everyone keeps saying different numbers, 9 months, 40 weeks, im so confused. just want to understand the full count properly so i can track.
Around 40 weeks ma, which everyone calls 9 months. But dont fix your mind on the exact date, baby comes when ready. My doctor said few days here and there is completely normal.
Full term is around 40 weeks counted from your last period. But babies can come a bit before or after that, both my kids came around 39 weeks. So 40 is the average, not a fixed deadline.
I was surprised it is counted as 40 weeks and not exactly 9 months! My gynac explained the counting starts from last period which is why. Made more sense once she told me.
My doctor said pregnancy is counted as 40 weeks from the first day of the last period, which works out to roughly 9 months. Anything from 37 to 42 weeks is considered normal delivery range. The due date is just an estimate, not exact.
