I keep getting confused between due date and full term too. So 40 weeks is full term right? My EDD app says 40 and I'm just hoping baby doesn't come too early. Did anyone here deliver around 38 and baby was fine?
Full term is generally counted as 39 to 40 weeks, and anything from 37 weeks onwards is considered term too. My first came at 38 and was perfectly fine. Doctors usually don't let you go much past 40 to 41 though.
My doctor explained the categories to me, early term is 37-38 weeks, full term is 39-40, and after 41 it's post term where they start monitoring more closely. So 40 weeks is the classic due date but term technically starts at 37.
For singletons 40 weeks is the goal, but with my twins the doctor was happy to get me to 37, that's full term for twins basically. Two babies don't wait for 40 weeks trust me. So it depends on what you're carrying.
