How many weeks of pregnancy can you hear the heartbeat?

I'm so excited to hear my baby's heartbeat for the first time! Around how many weeks into pregnancy can one usually hear the heartbeat? I'm eagerly waiting.

Normally we look for a heartbeat around the 6th to 7th week via transvaginal ultrasound. If you are doing an abdominal scan, it might take until 8 weeks to be clear. So don't panic if it's too early!
