Im in my second trimester and ive put on weight already, sometimes my MIL comments on it which makes me conscious. I just want to know whats a normal range to gain through the whole pregnancy so i stop worrying unnecessarily.
Because of GD i had to watch my weight gain closely, so my doc gave me a specific range and diet plan. If your sugar or BP is being monitored, follow your doctor's target, not a general figure.
My doc said it depends on your starting weight (BMI), but roughly 10-12 kg over the whole pregnancy is a common range for normal weight women. First trimester barely any, most gain comes later. Best to let your doctor set your target.
I focused less on the number and more on eating nutritious and staying active with walks (doc approved). Healthy gain happened naturally. Don't crash diet, this is not the time. Doc will tell you if you're on track.
It really varies person to person. I gained around 11 kg first time, 13 second. Don't obsess over the scale, eat well and let the doctor track it at each visit. Steady gain is what matters, not the exact number.
Don't stress about fancy diets to control weight, simple home food, dal sabzi roti fruits is enough. My gain was fine on normal ghar ka khana. Doc checks it free at each visit anyway.
