Im in my second trimester and my gynac told me to start calcium but i forgot to ask how much exactly per day. I get confused between what i eat and the tablet. How much are u all taking?
Amma always made me drink a glass of warm milk with a pinch of turmeric every night. But the actual calcium tablet dose my doctor decided, around the second trimester. Food plus the tablet she gave worked fine for me.
I was confused about this too, my doctor said the tablet she gave covers what food doesnt. She didnt give me an exact number to eat, just said take this daily. Did urs also give a fixed dose or just told to eat calcium rich food?
Beta in our time we just had lots of milk, ragi and til ladoo in winter. These days the doctor gives a proper tablet which is good, follow that. But do add a small katori of curd daily, it helps a lot.
U dont need fancy supplements yaar, the standard calcium the govt hospital gave me was totally fine and free. Milk, curd, green leafy sabzi cover a lot anyway. Ask ur doc before buying anything expensive, mostly not needed.
Honestly between office and everything I couldnt eat perfectly, so the calcium tab my doc gave was a lifesaver. Most of them prescribe it after 14 weeks na. Just take it like she tells and add ragi, til, milk wherever u can fit it in.
My gynac put me on calcium tablets from 4th month both times, usually they start it after the first trimester. Dont start any supplement on ur own, let the doc decide the dose based on ur reports. Along with that just keep dahi, milk, paneer in ur daily food.
