My gynac measures this every visit with a tape but never really explained what number is normal. Im 28 weeks now. Just curious how it relates to the week, anyone know?
My doctor told me that from about 20 weeks the fundal height in cm roughly matches your weeks of pregnancy, so at 28 weeks it's around 28 cm give or take a couple. She measures it each visit just to track growth. A small difference is normal, don't read too much into one number.
It's basically a rough guide, around the same number in cm as your gestational weeks after the 5th month. But it varies with your build, baby's position and fluid, so a slight variation is common. Your gynac interpreting it alongside the scan is what matters, not the bare number.
My doctor measured mine and said it's fine, but I keep wondering if a small difference means baby is too small or big. Did anyone's fundal height be a bit off and baby still turned out perfectly normal? It made me a little nervous.
Rough rule after 20 weeks is fundal height in cm equals your week number, plus or minus 2-3. So it's just a quick screening the doctor does with a tape. If it's off she'll order a scan to check properly. It's not something to measure or worry about yourself.
