I am trying to understand why some kits show early and some dont. My friend got positive before missed period, but mine was negative. Does the hcg level need to be certain amount?
Most home kits detect around 25 mIU/ml of hcg, some sensitive ones claim 10. My doctor told me thats why testing too early gives false negative, the level is still low. Best to test after your missed period with morning urine.
The kits pick it up once it crosses a certain level, usually after the period is missed. Dont test too early, you waste strips and stress yourself. Wait few days after due date.
Different kits have different sensitivity, its written on the box actually, like 25 or 10 mIU. The lower the number the earlier it can detect. I always tested with first morning pee for accuracy.
Home tests need a minimum hcg level to show positive, the standard ones around 25. Blood test from lab is way more sensitive and can catch it earlier. If you really want early confirmation, get a beta hcg blood test.
