I saw magnesium mentioned for leg cramps and sleep, but I am not sure if pregnant women should take extra. I already take my prenatal tablets. Should this only be taken if gynac says?
Please dont start any supplement by yourself. In my case they kept checking levels because of my BP and adjusted accordingly. These things should be doctor decided, not a standard dose for everyone.
Dont buy magnesium on your own yaar. My multivitamin already had it in both pregnancies so doc said no need for separate. Just show your prenatal box to your gynac and she will tell if extra is needed.
Honestly the amount depends on your body and what your prenatal already has in it. My gynac checked my reports first and then decided, she didnt just put me on extra magnesium randomly. Better to ask yours than fix a number from internet.
My doctor said most prenatal vitamins cover the magnesium need for the day, so usually you dont need a big separate dose unless you are deficient. She told me leg cramps sometimes link to it but still she tested before adding anything. Ask for a quick check up.
My amma kept saying eat more greens and nuts for this, which is good food wise. But for the actual supplement amount I just left it to my gynac. Food is safe to increase, the tablet part better confirm with her.
