I'm in my first trimester and feeling very tired all the time. My mother-in-law says I should sleep more, but I'm not sure how much is too much or too little. What is the recommended amount of sleep for a pregnant woman?
While 8-9 hours is normal, if your sleep is getting disturbed by severe cramps, itching on hands/feet, or shortness of breath, please inform your doctor. I had sleep issues due to complications, so it's always better to be cautious.
I totally understand how exhausted you must be feeling carrying that precious life. Sleep as much as your body asks for, dear, you deserve all the rest. Don't feel guilty about napping in the afternoon, just snuggle up and sleep.
Your body is doing so much hard work to protect this little miracle, so try to get 9-10 hours of gentle rest. If you have sleepless nights, don't stress, just lie down and let your body relax. Take very good care of yourself.
When I was staying at my mom's place, she made sure I slept for two hours every afternoon. She always said the baby grows when the mother rests peacefully. Make sure you get at least 8-10 hours of total rest daily.
Ideally, 8 hours of solid night sleep is recommended, preferably on your left side to improve blood flow to the baby. Avoid drinking too much water right before bed to reduce washroom trips. Your body is working overtime, so nap whenever u feel tired.
Aim for at least 8 to 10 hours of sleep, including small afternoon naps. Sleeping well kept my stamina high, which really helped me during my normal delivery later. Use a pregnancy pillow, it works wonders!
