How much time it takes to get pregnant after intercourse?
We just started trying this month and i keep wondering how long the whole thing actually takes inside, like does it happen right after or days later. First time TTC so all this is new to me. Can someone explain pls.
My doc explained fertilisation can happen within a day after, but the sperm can live a few days waiting for the egg. Then it takes about a week or so for implantation. So it isnt instant. You usually only know after ur missed period and a test.
Its not like u get pregnant the same minute. Sperm can survive a few days, egg has to be there at the right time too. Whole thing including implantation takes around a week or more. And many couples take a few cycles to conceive, thats normal too.
I had the same doubt when we started trying. From what I understood it can take from a few hours to a few days for conception to actually happen, and even then u cant test right away. We had to be patient and wait for the period date.
Timing around ovulation matters more than the exact moment after. With my PCOS my cycles were irregular so it took longer for us. Dont stress if it doesnt happen quickly, give it time and if its been many months, then see a doctor.
