My doctor explained that fertilisation can happen within a day or so of ovulation, but implantation takes around six to ten days after. So the pregnancy isnt instant, it builds over a couple of weeks. Thats why you cant test immediately.
I was tracking this when we started trying and learned its all about timing around ovulation. The sperm can wait a few days for the egg. It doesnt happen the same night, the whole process takes a couple weeks to confirm.
