I keep hearing this term and honestly it sounds so scary for just being a bit older mom. Im 34 and planning, at what age does it actually fall in this category?
I conceived at 37 through IVF and yes they call it geriatric, hated that word honestly. But please dont let it scare you, with good care it can go very smoothly. Just stay regular with your checkups.
My gynac said 35 is the cutoff age they use for advanced maternal age. She said it mainly means a couple of additional screenings, not that something will go wrong. Plenty of women deliver healthy babies in late 30s.
35 plus is what they label geriatric or advanced maternal age. Had my second at 36 and it was fine. They just keep a closer eye, nothing to panic about.
Its basically pregnancy at 35 and above, thats the medical term though it sounds scary. Many women have totally healthy pregnancies after 35, just a few extra tests are advised. Your doctor will guide on the monitoring part.
