Bit confused about how the weeks are calculated yaar. My gynac told me one number but my own counting from when we conceived gives something different. Can someone explain how it actually works?
Oh this confused me so much too. So if my last period started on a date, they count from that day itself? I always thought it starts from when we conceive. Thanks for asking this, I needed to know.
Easiest way, put your last period start date in any pregnancy app and it counts the weeks for you automatically. Its based on LMP. My early scan matched the app almost exactly, just a couple days off.
They count from the first day of your last menstrual period, LMP. Pregnancy is 40 weeks or about 280 days from there. The scan usually adjusts the dates if needed, so dont stress over your own calculation, the gynac will confirm.
Dont overthink the maths beta. Doctors start counting from your last period date and the first ultrasound fixes the proper due date. You just relax, they will keep track of your weeks for you.
My doctor explained it counts from the first day of your last period, not from conception. So you are technically counted as 2 weeks pregnant even before you actually conceived, which felt weird to me. Total 40 weeks from that first day is how they reach the due date.
