Home kit showed positive faint line so im going to the hospital this week to confirm. I have no idea what they actually do there, is it blood or urine test? First pregnancy so im a little nervous about the whole thing.
They take a blood sample for hcg, results come the same day usually. It is more reliable than the strip. After a positive, they schedule a scan. Straightforward process.
At the hospital they usually do a blood beta hcg test which is very accurate, sometimes a urine test too. My doctor then did a scan to confirm and date it. The blood test can detect it earlier than the home kit.
The blood test is cheap and quick at most labs, I think I paid very little. Worth doing for a sure confirm before all the bigger scans start. Just ask the rates upfront.
