Bought a kit from the chemist but i dont really get how it actually detects pregnancy. Just curious about the science behind those two lines. anyone know how it works?
Its just checking for the pregnancy hormone in your wee babe, thats all. Dip or pee on it, wait the few mins it says, and read. Use morning urine for best result and dont overthink a super faint line, just retest in a couple days.
The strip has a part that reacts to hcg, the hormone that shows up when pregnant. I always tested with first morning urine for the clearest line, and followed the timing on the leaflet. Reading it too late can show a confusing faint line.
Simple, it checks for the pregnancy hormone hcg in your pee. Two lines means it found it, one line means it didnt. Use first morning urine and read it in the time window on the box, dont read too early or too late.
Basically the kit detects a hormone called hcg in your urine, which your body makes only when pregnant. The strip reacts to it and shows a line. My doctor said morning urine works best because the hormone is most concentrated then.
