Oh god, with twins I used to wake up screaming because of double the leg cramps! The only thing that saved me was telling my husband to do a gentle mustard oil massage before sleeping. Also, keep stretching your feet upwards, not downwards, otherwise you are inviting the cramp!
Leg cramps can sometimes happen because of low calcium or potassium levels, but you have to be very careful with what you eat or drink, especially if you are tracking your sugars. Drink coconut water in the morning for natural potassium, but don't overdo it if you have high blood sugar issues. Always consult your dietician.

When you are sitting at a desk all day, leg cramps are bound to happen. I made it a rule to stand up and stretch every 45 minutes, and kept a small stool under my desk to keep my feet elevated. A quick warm water foot soak at night takes only 10 minutes but saves you from middle-of-the-night pain.
