My cousin had a molar pregnancy last year and it was such a scary time for her. We are planning now and honestly it stays in my head. Is there anything you can actually do to prevent it or is it just luck? anyone been through this.
Mostly its not in our control sadly, its a fertilization issue. Best thing is timely first trimester scans and a proper gynac follow up. If you are planning pregnancy, a preconception checkup is a good start.
I know this fear, I worried about it too. The honest thing is theres no guaranteed way to avoid it, but regular checkups and the first sonography help detect it early. If you have had one before, definitely tell your gynac so they monitor you closely next time.
I understand the worry behind this question. From everything I read and was told, its mostly down to chance and not your fault at all. Just stay on top of your scans and pick a good gynac you trust, thats the most you can do.
From what my doctor explained, a molar pregnancy isnt really something you can prevent by lifestyle, it happens because of a problem at fertilization. What you can do is go for your early scans on time so it gets caught early if it ever happens. Folic acid and good preconception care are still always good.
Take a breath, its quite rare actually. There isnt a home trick to prevent it but going for your early ultrasounds means doctors spot it quickly. Eat well, take your folic acid and dont carry this fear too heavily.
