In my first pregnancy BP became high near the end, so this time I am worried from the start. I am only 9 weeks now and will ask my gynac properly. Anyone with past preeclampsia had a smoother second pregnancy?
I understand the fear, having gone through it once makes you anxious for round two. The good news is once your doctor knows your history they keep a much closer watch. Lean on them, go for every checkup, and try not to carry the worry alone.
I had preeclampsia in my first and was very scared for the second. My doctor put me on a proper plan from early on, including extra monitoring. Please tell your gynac about your history right at the start, they may suggest specific precautions for you. This isn't a DIY thing.
With a history like that, regular follow up is everything. I had thyroid and a high risk pregnancy and the close monitoring is what kept things safe. Be honest with your doctor about your first pregnancy and never skip appointments, that's my biggest advice.
Tell your doctor your history first thing. From my side what helped was regular checkups, staying active as allowed, keeping weight in a healthy range and not skipping any BP reading. But the real plan should come from your gynac who knows your case.
My gynac said since I had a history, she watched my BP closely, kept an eye on weight and swelling, and there were some preventive steps she advised early in pregnancy. She didn't want me self managing it. Definitely have this conversation with your doctor before deciding anything.
