Just found out im expecting our first and now im thinking about all the costs coming up, checkups, delivery, baby stuff. Want to plan properly so we are not stressed later. How did u all manage ur expenses?
We made a rough list early, doctor visits, scans, tests, delivery package and baby basics. Ask ur hospital for the delivery cost upfront, normal and c-section both, so theres no shock later. Buying baby stuff slowly over months also eased the load.
Second time round I knew the drill. Keep an emergency buffer because babies dont stick to plans. Prioritise good doctor and delivery care, save on the nursery decor and gadgets. Most fancy baby products u wont even use.
I straight up asked the hospital billing desk for a full package breakdown, antenatal, delivery, room types, NICU just in case. Knowing the numbers upfront let us plan calmly. Dont be shy to ask the staff every cost.
I checked my health insurance maternity cover first, that decided a lot. Then I set aside a fixed amount monthly for visits and tests. Also dont overbuy newborn clothes, they outgrow in weeks, trust me.
Honestly the big costs are scans, delivery and any complications. We compared a couple of hospitals and picked a sensible one, not the fanciest. Borrowed a crib and some clothes from family too, saved a good bit.
