This is an ivf pregnancy after a long journey and im so happy. But im confused how my due date is calculated since its not a normal cycle. Is it counted from transfer date? anyone who did ivf pls help me understand.
Because the conception date is precisely known in IVF, the EDD is more accurate than natural pregnancies. Best to let your fertility clinic calculate it, they factor in the transfer day exactly.
I went through fertility treatment too and honestly I just let the doctor work out the date, they adjust for the transfer day and the scan. Dont stress calculating it yourself, the clinic has it right.
My doctor explained it depends on whether it was a day-3 or day-5 embryo transfer, they adjust the dates accordingly. The early dating scan then fine-tunes the EDD, so trust the clinic's number.
In IVF they calculate it from the embryo transfer date, not your last period, since the timing is known exactly. For a day-5 (blastocyst) transfer they usually count 261 days from transfer. Your clinic gives you the exact EDD though, mine did.
