Just got my positive test and everyone is asking my due date but honestly i have no clue how its counted. My periods were a bit irregular too so im confused. How do you actually work out the edd, from last period or scan?
Common rule is take the first day of your last period, add 9 months and 7 days. I just put my LMP in a pregnancy app and it gave the EDD instantly. But the dating scan refines it best.
The LMP method gives a rough date, but the dating ultrasound is more reliable, especially with irregular periods. Let your gynac confirm it. Remember its an estimate, very few deliver exactly on it.
Count from the first day of your last period, due date is about 40 weeks from there. If your cycle is irregular, the early scan gives a more accurate date. My EDD shifted slightly after the scan both times.
