got my positive result and now everyone keeps asking how many weeks. honestly i dont fully get how the weeks are counted, is it from last period or conception date? someone pls explain simply.
With irregular cycles like mine the LMP method wasn't very accurate, so my doctor relied on the early ultrasound to date the pregnancy. If your periods are regular, LMP works fine. When unsure, the scan is the better guide.
Doctors count from the first day of your last period, not from conception, that always confuses people. So your weeks include about 2 weeks before you actually conceived. The dating scan then fine tunes it. That's how my due dates were set both times.
My gynac explained it's calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), and due date is roughly 40 weeks from there. If your cycles are irregular, the early ultrasound gives a more accurate start. So note your LMP date and let the scan confirm.
Easiest way, put your last period's first date into a pregnancy app or due date calculator and it does it for you. It counts from LMP, not conception. My dating scan matched it pretty closely.
