Trust me, only the ultrasound confirms it properly, the rest is just guessing. We found out at the dating scan when the doc went 'oh, there are two!' and my husband nearly fell off the chair. So yeah, scan is your answer.
An ultrasound is the only sure way, usually it shows up clearly by 6-8 weeks. My doctor said very high hCG can sometimes hint at twins but it's not confirmation, the scan is. So wait for that.
People say more nausea or a bigger bump means twins but that's not reliable at all. Only the scan tells you for sure, so dont go by symptoms. Ask your doctor at your first ultrasound.
