my sugar came high in the glucose test and now im diagnosed with gestational diabetes, feeling a bit overwhelmed tbh. doc has given me a diet but i want to know what else helped others manage their levels. any tips from mommies who went through this?
Dont panic beta, lots of women manage this well and have healthy babies. Eat balanced, avoid sugar and refined carbs, walk daily and keep checking your levels. Just stay regular with your appointments and you will be fine.
My doctor put me on a meal plan with a dietician and home glucose monitoring. Portion control, low GI foods and post meal walks made a big difference. Some women need insulin if diet isnt enough, and thats normal, the doctor decides that safely. Dont self adjust anything.
I had GD and managing it was all about diet and timing. Small frequent meals, cut sugar and white rice, more protein and fibre, and a short walk after meals really controlled my sugar. Monitor your levels as advised and follow your doctors plan closely.
In joint family the sweets are everywhere haha, that was my biggest battle. My mom helped make separate low sugar food for me. Walks, less rice, more sabzi and dal worked. But the diet chart from the doctor is what you should really follow.
With a job it was tricky but I packed my own meals to avoid outside sugary stuff. Walking 10-15 mins after lunch and dinner kept my readings good. Keep a glucometer handy and note the numbers for your doctor.
I had high sugar and it needed careful monitoring. Please dont try to manage this casually, gestational diabetes needs proper doctor follow up and regular sugar checks. Diet and walking help a lot but stay in close touch with your gynac.
