How to control diabetes naturally during pregnancy?
My GTT came back slightly high and gynac mentioned gestational diabetes, im 27 weeks. She has explained things but i also want to manage it with diet and walking as much as i can. Mums who went through GD, what changes helped you keep sugars in check?
I went through GD, what helped me was small frequent meals, cutting white rice and sugar, more veggies and protein, and a short walk after meals. But honestly diet alone wasnt always enough, please stay under your doctor and do the sugar monitoring.
When my sugar was borderline, the doctor sent me to a dietician. The plan was complex carbs over simple, more fibre, protein with every meal, and no sugary drinks. She said diet and walk first, and medicine only if numbers stay high.
My gynac allowed me light walking after meals and it really helped my sugar readings. Along with portion control and avoiding sweets. Only do exercise that your doctor okays for your case.
You dont need fancy stuff, simple home swaps work. Switch to millets or brown rice in small portions, more dal and veggies, skip the bakery items. The glucometer and regular tests are worth the money though, dont skip those.
Pregnancy diabetes is not something to manage fully on your own na. Lifestyle helps a lot but you really need regular checks and your doctor decides if anything more is needed. Dont skip those appointments pls.
Cut the obvious sugar, sweets, juices, maida. Add salad and protein, walk daily if allowed. Keep checking your levels at home. Natural steps help but keep your doctor in the loop fully.
