Im craving sweets like crazy these days, gulab jamun, chocolate, everything. Im in 5th month and a bit scared about gaining too much or sugar going up. How do you all manage these cravings?
Dont be too hard on yourself yaar, a little sweet is okay. Just dont go overboard. I kept fruit and dates close and ate slow. Cravings are so normal, no guilt needed.
Omg the sugar cravings were unreal for me haha. What helped was keeping fruit, dates and a little jaggery handy so I reached for those instead of full chocolate cake. I still had treats sometimes, just smaller portions. Total ban never worked for me, balance did.
Please take cravings seriously if you have any sugar risk. I controlled mine by eating small frequent meals so I never got too hungry, that reduced the urge a lot. Fruit instead of sweets, and lots of water. And do get your sugar checked regularly, mine got diagnosed this way.
Dont keep sweets at home, simple. If its not in front of you the craving passes faster. I swapped to fruit, a small piece of dark chocolate when desperate, and ate protein with meals so I felt full longer. Worked both pregnancies.
When the craving hit hard I'd go for a short walk if my doc allowed it, and it actually distracted me. Also having a proper meal beforehand cut the sugar urge. Hydration too, sometimes thirst feels like a craving.
