Im in my third trimester and doc told me to start tracking baby movements daily. But honestly im confused matlab from when do i start counting and how many is normal. Can someone explain how you do it?
I am no expert, but in my experience, my baby was most active around 10 PM after my dinner. I used to just lie down quietly and count the kicks on my fingers. Every pregnancy is different, so just get to know your baby's unique pattern!
I completely understand the anxiety around baby movements, it can be so overwhelming to keep track. Just sit peacefully after lunch or dinner, have a glass of cold water, and count how many times baby moves. If you feel any sudden drop in movements, please contact your gynac immediately.
Omg kick counting used to make me so anxious, I literally sat with a notebook timing every single tap! What worked for me was lying on my left side after a meal and counting. Please don't panic if they are quiet for an hour, sometimes they are just sleeping, but keep tracking!
My gynac explained that we should ideally count after meals when baby is most active. The standard rule is to look for at least 10 movements within 2 hours. If you don't get 10 kicks in that time, drink some sweet juice, lie on your left side, and try again, but check with your doctor if it still feels less.
Since I had thyroid during pregnancy, I was extra careful about baby's growth and kick counts. My doctor told me to track it daily after lunch and dinner. Along with regular thyroid checkups, keeping a close eye on kicks really helped, so make sure to discuss this in your next doctor visit.
