Actually yaar, Mumbai humidity makes the swelling so much worse! What really worked for me was soaking my feet in warm water with rock salt for 15 mins daily. And please avoid sitting with folded legs, it blocks blood flow.
A bit of swelling is normal, but please keep an eye on your blood pressure and thyroid levels too, as sudden severe swelling can sometimes indicate high BP. Keep checking with your doctor during your regular checkups, and keep your legs elevated whenever you sit.
My feet looked like little potatoes by the end of my pregnancy, especially after I stood in the kitchen making golgappas! Honestly, keeping them elevated on two pillows while eating my favorite snacks was the best cure ever. Also, reduce salt in your food thoda, it helps.
Leg swelling is very common as the baby grows and puts pressure on your veins. Try to drink lots of water bcoz staying hydrated actually helps flush out extra fluids. If the swelling is only on one leg or comes with severe headache, please call your gynac immediately.
I have seen my sister-in-law struggle with this during her pregnancy. She used to wear comfortable flat slippers and her husband would gently massage her feet with warm coconut oil in the evening, which looked very relaxing. Hope you get some relief soon.
I had terrible nausea in early months and then this leg swelling in the third trimester, pregnancy is tough! Try to lie down on your left side as much as possible, as it improves blood circulation to your lower body. Don't stand for too long in one place.
