First time pregnant and a little lost with all the week counting. The doctor gave me a due date but didnt really explain how she figured it out. Is it from the scan or from periods? Would love to understand how dating works.
My gynac said the most accurate dating comes from the first trimester scan, they measure the baby and calculate from there. The LMP method is the starting point but the scan is the gold standard she said.
I just put my last period date into a pregnancy tracker app and it gave me weeks plus due date instantly. Then matched it with my dating scan and it was almost same. Super handy.
Dont worry too much about doing it yourself. Just note when your last period started and the doctor will fix the dates, the first scan makes it accurate. You are in good hands.
Doctor dates it from your last period first day. Then the early ultrasound, usually around 7-8 weeks, confirms the dates more precisely. Both my pregnancies got slightly adjusted after the scan.
easiest thing, remember ur last period start date and tell the doc. she figures out weeks and due date from that, scan does the rest. dont overthink yaar.
