My gynac asked me to get a blood test instead of just the home strip. I always thought urine test is enough. How does the blood one actually confirm it and is it more accurate? pls share if u did this.
The blood test checks beta hCG levels, thats the pregnancy hormone. My doc said blood test catches it earlier than urine strips and even gives a number. They sometimes repeat after 48 hrs to see if its rising properly.
Its called beta hCG test. Just a small blood sample at the lab, no fasting needed usually. I did it when my home test was faint, and it confirmed clearly.
We did beta hCG many times during our journey. The lab gives a value and the doctor reads if its in pregnancy range and rising. Take care, and let your doctor guide the timing of the test.
