Everyone keeps saying eat broccoli for folate but honestly i dont like it much. Looking for ways to make it tasty so i can actually finish it. How are you all having it during pregnancy?
I steam it lightly and toss with garlic, olive oil and bit of salt, so good honestly. Sometimes I just mix it in pasta or soup. Just dont overcook it to mush, then all the good stuff goes.
Easiest for me was throwing it in the cooker with veggies or making a quick stir fry with paneer. Takes 10 mins. Cook it properly, dont eat raw, and clean it well because those florets trap dirt.
Broccoli was a good one for me since it didnt spike my sugar much. I keep it steamed with little seasoning, no heavy creamy sauces. Just cook it through and clean it nicely, raw veggies I avoided fully.
Wash it really well first, soak in salt water for few mins to clean. I usually steam or stir fry, never raw during pregnancy. Add to dal, sabzi, soup whatever, its great for folate and fibre.
I add it to my poriyal and also in veg soup, came out nice. My mother always said cook the green veggies well in pregnancy. Steam or saute is enough, no need to make it complicated.
