My MIL keeps saying gud is good for pregnancy and gives me a piece after lunch daily. I like it but not sure kitna is ok and best time to have it. Anyone having jaggery regularly, in what form do u take it?
I had a lot of spotting in my first trimester so my gynac strictly told me to avoid hot potency foods like jaggery initially. It's really better to ask your doctor before eating it regularly, especially if u have any history of complications. Please don't take any chances.
Oh god, gud wali chai and til gud laddoos were my absolute favorite cravings! I used to have thoda sa jaggery with ghee after dinner, it felt so heavenly and helped with acidity too. Just control the portion na, because too much sweet is also not good during these months.
During my recovery after C-section, my mother-in-law gave me light warm water with jaggery sometimes to help clean my system. During pregnancy, I ate it very sparingly because body heat is a concern. Better to stick to small amounts so that healing or pregnancy stays smooth.
I used to eat a tiny piece of gud after lunch everyday because my sweet tooth was out of control. But honestly I didn't take any big amount or mix it in hot things, just simple plain jaggery. It worked for my sugar cravings but definitely ask your doctor once if it is safe for u.
Actually yaar, jaggery is super healthy but hot in nature so moderation is the key. I used to add a small cube in my morning ragi porridge and it tasted amazing. But please dont go crazy eating huge quantities, control is important na.
Jaggery or gud is great for iron levels, but in pregnancy we have to be practical and not overdo it. You can easily have a small bite after meals or use it instead of white sugar in your kheer. Just make sure it is organic and clean, and always consult your doctor if you have gestational diabetes.
