Makhana is excellent if you have GD because it has a low glycemic index. Just roast them dry or with very little ghee, and avoid adding any sweet coatings. It keeps your sugar stable.
Just roast them in a little ghee with salt and black pepper. Don't buy those expensive flavored packets from the market, they have too many chemicals. Simple home-made is best.
Makhana is super healthy, dear. You can dry roast them and keep them in an airtight container for quick snacking. It's rich in calcium, so it's very good for you and the baby.
