I just found out im expecting but my periods were never regular so im confused about when i actually conceived. Want to atleast get a rough idea before my first scan. How do you figure out the month?
Doctors go by your last menstrual period mostly. Conception is roughly 2 weeks after that, around ovulation. But the dating scan in early pregnancy gives the most accurate date, so dont stress about exact day.
Easiest way, count back from your last period date. Conception usually happens about 2 weeks after the first day of your last period. I just put my LMP date in a pregnancy app and it told me everything, due date too.
Dont worry too much about the exact day beta. Note your last period date and the doctor will tell you the timeline and due date at your first visit. The scan makes it clear.
My doctor explained they calculate from the last menstrual period since exact conception day is hard to know. The early ultrasound then confirms how far along you are. So your LMP plus the dating scan together give the month.
