My feet and ankles have become so puffy by evening that my chappals dont fit properly. Im 32 weeks. Its uncomfortable and a little annoying. What did u all do to get some relief?
Gentle movement helped me a lot, short walks and some light ankle rotations and leg elevation that my doctor okayed. Sitting still all day made the swelling worse for me. Just keep it gentle and only do what your gynac has cleared for you.
When I was working through pregnancy my feet swelled by evening. I kept a small stool under my desk to raise my feet, took short walks every hour instead of sitting nonstop, and slipped off my shoes. Drinking enough water actually helps too, sounds odd but it does. Compression socks were a lifesaver on long days.
Some swelling in feet and ankles is super common, especially later on. What worked for me, keep your feet up when you sit, dont stand for long, lie on your left side, stay hydrated and dont sit cross legged. Loose comfy footwear too. It usually eases with these.
Beta, raise your legs on a pillow while resting and avoid too much salt in food. A gentle warm water soak for the feet feels nice. Lie on the left side, it helps the blood flow. But if the swelling is sudden or heavy, dont ignore, show the doctor.
Mild swelling that comes and goes is usually normal. But I want to flag this, if the swelling is sudden, a lot, in your face or hands, or comes with headache, blurry vision or high BP, please see your doctor immediately. That can be a sign of pre eclampsia and needs urgent checking.
