My recent reports showed calcium is on lower side and i get leg cramps at night also. Apart from milk which i honestly cant drink much, what foods helped you all? second trimester here.
I had thyroid so I was extra careful with everything. Note one thing, don't take calcium and thyroid medicine at the same time, space them out, my doctor was strict about it. Otherwise dairy and greens worked well for calcium.
My doctor told me to have milk, curd, paneer and cheese daily, plus green leafy veg and ragi. She also started a calcium supplement from the second trimester. Don't take supplements on your own though, let her decide the dose.
Dairy is your easiest source, two glasses of milk, curd, paneer. Also til seeds, ragi and almonds. Vitamin D helps absorb calcium so get some sunlight too. Doctor will add a supplement if your levels are low.
Ragi is amazing for calcium, my amma made me ragi porridge and ragi dosa often. Along with that curd and milk daily. But the doctor also gave me a tablet, so take both as she advises.
You dont need fancy stuff, simple milk, curd, ragi and sesame seeds are cheap and full of calcium. The doctor-prescribed calcium tablet is also inexpensive. Just eat consistently, that's the trick.
