My hb is on the lower side and im taking iron but doesnt seem to be helping much. Heard food combinations matter for absorption. What did you all do to make it work better?
Hey, don't worry, low iron is a common issue for pregnant women. Just make sure you take your prescribed iron tablets regularly and with something acidic like a nimbu paani to help it absorb better. Also avoid tea/coffee right after meals.
It's totally normal to worry about these things during pregnancy! My doc said to always take iron with Vitamin C (like citrus fruits or amla) and to avoid tea or coffee around meal times, as they hinder absorption. You're doing great just by asking!
I struggled with low iron so much, it made me so tired and breathless! Make sure you are taking your supplements regularly and eating green leafy veggies and dates. It really, really helps, trust me, you'll feel better.
Oh, I remember this phase! My gynac always emphasized eating dates, jaggery, and green leafy veggies. And a big tip: never take iron tablets with milk or tea, it totally blocks absorption. You'll be fine, just be consistent!
Best way is to pair iron-rich foods with Vitamin C. So, palak with a squeeze of lemon, or take your iron tablets with orange juice. It's super easy to incorporate into your routine without much extra effort.
