My hb came a little low in the last test and doc told me to work on it. Apart from what shes given, i want to add some iron rich food in my khana also. What all do u guys eat for this?
My iron was quite low during my third trimester, and I had to be very careful because I had a C-section later, which involves some blood loss. Eating green leafy vegetables, dates, and black raisins really helped me build up my strength before my surgery. Just make sure to take your supplements diligently every day.
My obstetrician at the hospital gave me a very clear diet chart specifically for building up my iron reserves. If you're struggling to keep your levels up, please consult your hospital nutritionist or doctor clearly. They can recommend the exact supplements or even suggest an IV iron drip if the levels are too low, which is very safe and comfortable.
Don't worry, dear, low iron is very common during these months and can be easily managed. Try to eat a beetroot and pomegranate salad daily, and always take some vitamin C (like lemon juice) with your iron-rich food because it helps in absorption. Most importantly, take your iron tablets regularly as prescribed by your doc, and you'll be absolutely fine.
While including iron-rich foods like spinach, lentils, and nuts in your diet is highly beneficial, doctor's advice is absolutely best when it comes to dosage. Normal diet alone is often not enough to meet the increased demand of pregnancy, so make sure you take the specific iron supplements your gynecologist prescribes. Also, avoid having tea or coffee around your iron intake as it blocks absorption.
Beta, drink a glass of fresh beetroot and carrot juice every day and eat a few soaked black raisins in the morning. My mother also used to make iron pots (lohe ki kadhai) food for me, which naturally increases iron. Take care of your health and eat well.
