My latest report showed pcv on the lower side and doc mentioned i need to improve it. Im in second trimester. What foods or things helped u bring it up? Looking for real experiences.
My doctor gave me iron syrup and told me to eat palak and gud. Slowly slowly my count went up. Just eat on time and take rest, it will get better dear.
This question comes up a lot here. Short answer, good iron rich diet plus the supplements your doctor prescribes, and add some vitamin C food like amla or lemon to help absorb the iron better. But always keep your gynac in the loop on the numbers.
In our family we always gave dates and a little jaggery to expecting bahus, it helps the blood na. But beta, also take whatever iron medicine your doctor gives, the ghar ke nuskhe alone are not enough these days.
If your PCV or hemoglobin is low, please don't try to fix it only with food. Low blood count in pregnancy needs proper monitoring, so let your gynac decide the tablets and dose. Mine kept rechecking my reports every few weeks.
Honestly with my busy schedule I just made sure to take the iron tablet daily without missing and added simple things like a glass of pomegranate juice and a bowl of dal. Set a phone reminder for the tablet, that helped me the most.
PCV is linked to your blood count and hemoglobin. My doctor told me to focus on iron rich food like dates, beetroot, pomegranate, green veggies, and the iron tablets she prescribed. She said the meds matter most, food is supporting, so don't skip those tablets.
Iron rich foods help but be a little mindful if you have any sugar issue like I did. Beetroot and pomegranate are good but I balanced portions and checked with my doctor. She adjusted my diet so it worked for both things.
