I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes and doc started me on insulin, im a little nervous about doing it myself first time. Anyone here who managed this during pregnancy? would help to hear how u got used to it.
This really needs proper guidance from ur diabetes team, not the internet. Dose, timing and where to inject all depend on ur readings. Ask them to demo it once in front of u and watch u do it too, thats how I learnt safely.
The clinic usually teaches the pen technique, clean the area, pinch, inject, rotate sites so skin doesnt harden. But honestly the exact how and how much must come from ur own doctor since pregnancy doses change a lot.
I was on insulin for gestational diabetes. The diabetes nurse showed me the exact technique, rotating spots on the tummy and thigh, and the dose was set by my doctor. Pls get that hands on training, dont learn it from a video.
I know the needle part feels scary at first but once the nurse shows u properly it becomes routine, dont worry. Just please let ur medical team teach u and set the dose. U've got this, take it one day at a time.
