My gums bleed a little while brushing and I am also craving sweets more than usual. I dont want dental issues to get worse in pregnancy. What dental care did you follow?
Keep it simple, brush twice a day, floss, cut down on too many sweet snacks and drink enough water. Get a dental checkup done, gum issues are common in pregnancy. Both times I got a cleaning done and it was completely fine.
My granny always said an oil pulling and gentle brushing keeps the mouth healthy, and I did do mild oil pulling in the mornings. But the main thing my dentist stressed was regular brushing, flossing and a checkup since gums swell easily now. Both old and new advice helped me.
When I was throwing up a lot my teeth felt awful. A tip that helped, dont brush right after vomiting, instead rinse with water or a little baking soda water first, then brush after a while. Saved my enamel honestly. Hope your sickness eases soon.
Realistically with a busy schedule I just made sure to brush morning and night properly and keep a bottle of water at my desk to rinse and stay hydrated. Booked one dental visit early on so I didnt have to worry later. Small habits, no big effort needed.
My dentist said pregnancy hormones make gums more prone to bleeding and swelling, so brush twice with a soft brush, floss gently and rinse after any vomiting so the acid doesnt sit on teeth. She also said dental cleaning is safe in pregnancy, just tell them youre pregnant before any treatment.
