My periods were always irregular so i genuinely have no idea how many weeks i am. Gynac appointment is next week. How do they figure out the baby's exact age? just curious how it works.
My mom used to count by months but doctors count in weeks na. The scan they do early gives the exact age of baby. I just let my gynac calculate it, no point getting confused with too many methods.
I just put my last period date in a pregnancy app and it told me the weeks. But the dating scan around 8-12 weeks is the real confirmation, thats when they measure the baby and give exact age. App is just a rough guide.
Gestational age is calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period. The early ultrasound fine tunes it by measuring the baby. Your doctor will give you the most reliable number, trust that over any app.
Counted from the first day of your last period, thats how doctors do it. But the early scan gives a more accurate due date if your cycles are irregular. Both my dates got corrected slightly after the first ultrasound.
